The source of the acai berry is the swampy and floodplain jungles of South and Central America, where the fruit abounds in clusters on the acai palm. It has become a significant aspect of the standard nutritional regime of the majority of tribes in that region. The natural acai berry fruit & the goods made from it have drawn enormous interest across the planet in the present times because of the fact the fruit is a natural food supplement and contains high antioxidant levels. The marketing efforts for these goods combined with its mention in some especially prevalent television shows has led to the rise in reputation of this fruit that has existed for centuries.  Nonetheless, the berry has not adequately been studied as yet concerning the composition, nutritional properties, & if there are side effects of acai berry.

Those people who have started taking the acai berries as is or in its numerous forms found in food supplements such as puree, tablets, capsules, powders & juices are doing so principally to try out something new in the way of a natural dietary food source or as a weight loss routine. Although there are alot other advantages that advertisers are suggesting regarding this fruit, alot of the allegations are speculative & have no basis in scientific fact – considering sufficiently controlled research has not been done on the acai berry yet.

Some of the reasons that the acai products are promoted are the assumed increase in better digestion and metabolism as a result of it having the correct combination of amino acids, phytosterols and essential fatty acids. General energy & spirits will be amplified because of the antioxidant content of an acai rich nutritional regime. Other positives cited by supporters of acai berry include increased cardiovascular health and mental clarity, enhanced visual sharpness, slowing the aging process & detoxification and purification of the body leading to a renewal of immunity.

So far the only acai berry side effects that have been recorded for the acai is that it causes loss of appetite. Overweight individuals consider this an advantage, nevertheless it can be unfavorable to the health of anyone that is malnourished. So, it is suggested to discuss with a physician and/or a dietary specialist prior to beginning any acai based regimen. If you are allergic to any of the acai berry’s elements you may develop a skin rash.  Clearly, if this occurs, discontinue use of the product.
