The results of the second part of the Women’s Health Initiative (WIH), a federal study on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and breast cancer, were released December 13, 2008 at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. The new findings show that a much higher risk of breast cancer is one of several hormone replacement therapy side effects.

HRT Side Effects

The results of this new study indicate that the risks of HRT far outweigh the benefits for most women. Doctors thought HRT would lower the incidence of heart disease and osteoporosis, problems women may face after menopause.

The WIH had two parts. Over 16,000 women who were closely matched by age, weight, and other health factors took part in the first study. These women were randomly assigned to a group that took estrogen and progestin pills, or or to one that took a placebo.

The researchers found much higher risks of heart problems and breast cancer in women using female hormone replacement therapy. In fact, the risk of breast cancer increased by 26% among women using HRT, espcially for those women who used HRT for five years or more. This finding caused an early end to the first part of the WIH in 2002.

All the questions researchers had weren’t answered, however. Did women who started on HRT when they first entered menopause in their 50′s, and who used HRT for shorter periods of time, still face higher risks of breast cancer and heart disease? Most of the women in the first study were in their 60s and well past menopause.

In the new study, researchers followed over 15,000 women who met the new criteria through July 2005. The researchers kept track of breast cancer cases as they occurred over time.

The results? The risk of breast cancer increased when women started HRT, hit a high point when the study ended, and then fell as nearly all the women stopped taking estrogen and progestin pills. Results at the high point showed that the breast cancer risk for HRT users was twice that of the others.

Is HRT Really Safe?

Conventional medical practioners are quick to reassure their patients that most women won’t get breast cancer if they use HRT for a short time. They say that the increased cancer risk from using HRT for two years amounts to only a few extra cases of breast cancer per year for every 1000 women using estrogen and progestin pills.

There’s no way to know which women will develop breast cancer and which ones won’t. Plus the risk of breast cancer does go up the longer a woman uses HRT.

Natural Treatment For Menopause

Women have always gone through menopause. This is nothing new. It’s a normal part of every woman’s life. Menopause is not an illness and shouldn’t be treated like one.

For centuries women have used natural treatments for menopause. These natural remedies have few, if any, side effects.

Women need to learn more about the increased risk of breast cancer linked to hormone replacement therapy. Natural menopause remedies are readily available and quite inexpensive. It may be possible to find relief from common menopause symptoms without increasing your risk of breast cancer.

From the get-go, everyone has had qualms about chiropractic care and its ability to replace any traditional methods of medical care. And yet, here’s a breakthrough for chiropractic medicine as many believe that undergoing chiropractic treatments while pregnant is good for both the mother and the baby inside her womb.

Why Pregnant Women Need Chiropractic Care?

This is an important question that pregnant women need to find an answer to. When a woman becomes pregnant, her body undergoes a variety of physiological and endocrinological changes as the baby inside her womb starts to develop. Due to these changes, the pregnant mother could suffer from cases of misalignment in her joint or spine that results in either one or a combination of the following:

• More prominent curve on her back,
• Enlargement of the abdomen,
• Pelvic changes,
• Changes in posture.

Due to these changes, some women might have difficulty attaining proper balance and alignment. Chiropractic care definitely helps in developing correct posture,it also puts less pressure on your body. Also, misalignment of your pelvis could limit the baby’s development inside your womb.

Is it Safe?

Although it is not fully conclusive that chiropractic care is safe for pregnant women, there are also no contraindications that would prevent women from experiencing such treatment procedures. All trained chiropractors have been briefed about using the procedures on pregnant women, hence it is generally safe.

There are also chiropractors who specialize in chiropractic treatment for pre-natal and peri-natal care for women. Therefore, additional training is required in order to ensure the safety of both baby and mother. Doctors who undergo chiropractic care on pregnant women adjust the intensity of their treatment procedures according to how far into their pregnancy stage the woman is. In some cases, chiropractors suggest stretching and exercise routines that pregnant women can develop for a safer and healthier pregnancy.

Benefits of Pregnancy Chiropractic Care

Before women even undergo labor, the recommendations to undergo chiropractic care helps them in several ways. It includes the following:

• It helps them achieve a healthier pregnancy.

• It will enable women to have better control over symptoms or other conditions associated with pregnancy.

They delivers fast and in more efficient way.

• It provides relief from pain on the neck, back, or joints.

• It helps women avoid the possibility of undergoing cesarean section.

Its Effects During Labor

Aside from the benefits above, chiropractic care offers several other benefits for women during the actual labor, especially in terms of pain management. If you want a more successful delivery, then try to learn about how chiropractic care will help you achieve that.

Length of Labor

When the human body is subjected to extremely stressful situations, its level of balance and ability to adapt is crucial in determining how the body is impacted by that situation. Most women’s body can’t bear the stress of delivery, therefore they undergo Cesarean section during delivery. Most of it is caused by misalignment on the pelvis that slows down the descent of the fetus towards the mother’s birth canal. Limited range of motion also affects a woman’s ability to labor more efficiently.

Hence, proper adjustments using chiropractic care enables a woman to address the above problems and significantly reduce the amount of time spent on labor.

Fetal Position

This is another component that will impact labor time. Most chiropractic treatments help adjust the pelvic positioning and in the process correctly places the fetus. That way, it will be easier for the fetus to be delivered easily. Health experts also believe that undergoing chiropractic treatments help avoid the acquisition of any form of back labor.

Candida is responsible for oral yeast infections, which are also known as Thrush. Oral yeast infection usually infects the mouth, gums, tongue and inner cheeks. Understanding the oral yeast infection symptoms and identifying them is the best way to avoid having to suffer from long term oral yeast infection.

Check out this Easy Treatment for Oral Yeast Infection Symptoms

It is not difficult to cure oral yeast infection symptoms. Needless to say, an early identification and treatment is required in this case as well. In some cases infection may spread to other parts of the body, affecting lungs and kidneys as well. Worse still, you might infect other unsuspecting people as well.

The first task that a person needs to perform in order to overcome these symptoms is to understand what oral yeast infection symptoms is and in what form can it be expected to appear. First off, it is necessary to understand that the fungus that causes yeast infection is quite normal and will not affect a person when they are in good health.

Yeast is present in every human being and is kept under control by the beneficial bacteria, which is present in our digestive system. This balance of good fungus can also be upset by certain antibiotics and also when the immune system is weakened. Cheese like patches, white patches on your gums, swelling, pain etc are common oral yeast infection symptoms. Other types of oral yeast infections besides thrush are a white-coated tongue which is usually present with bad breath.

Just a reminder that if you are looking for a great free site on yeast infections and treatments, then see Yeast Infection Cure

In case the cavity in your mouth develops layers of cheesy material, you will then need to get this treated, which can take many weeks provided you begin the treatment without delays. Such oral yeast infection symptoms, if not treated in time, can affect the patient’s esophagus as too their stomach. Understanding the different kinds of risk factors can help you identify oral yeast infection symptoms at an early stage. Little babies are pretty prone to developing oral yeast infection symptoms. Senior citizens too can develop this condition; especially those who use dentures.

Candida yeast infection symptoms can often last for a long time. Yeast infections are extremely difficult to get rid of and the best option is to get rid of all of it at the same time. It is however possible to put a permanent end to these symptoms and it often requires changing your diet and taking other simple steps that will help you get rid of the symptoms forever.

Get a Bacterial Vaginosis Treamtent now. More and more women are now looking for that natural home remedy some doctors would not agree with this but there is no getting away from the fact that it is happening and in many cases with good success. Another reason to seek out good natural treatments is due to the rising costs of more traditional treatments and visits to the doctors along with prescription charges. that condition is known as Bacterial Vaginosis.

Bacterial vaginosis is a mild infection that occurs in the vagina when the balance of the naturally occurring bacteria becomes disrupted, resulting in a greater number of one group of bacteria over the other forms. This type of infection is considered as particularly embarrassing by some women, since it necessarily involves visible and chronic symptoms that are quite hard to ignore. Bacterial vaginosis can have any of the following symptoms: abnormal discharge with a particularly unpleasant fishy odor, intense itching in vaginal area, swelling and irritation, and sometimes even cramp-like stomach pains. These are just a few of the more commonly known symptoms of bacterial vaginosis, and the possible sources of the infection are almost as varied as the symptoms, like frequent wearing of thongs and other underwear which alternately rub between the vagina and the anus, triggered by a previous sexually-transmitted infection, infections caused by strep, and, to a certain degree, sexual intercourse between two women, that is, presupposing that one of the women had been infected, or is currently infected with bacterial vaginosis.

The most common cure for bacterial vaginosis is pretty much the same as the accepted cure for most types of infections: antibiotics. Antibiotics are Ok but not great some women are intolerant of antibiotics others may just choose not to use them. That is why more natural or herbal remedies and treatments for bacterial vaginosis need to be found that will not harm the body. One form of treatment being looked at is the restoration of the natural balance of the normal vaginal flora, or population of the naturally existing bacteria in the vagina. Considering that some of these treatments are quite natural, virtually as natural as the normal food we eat, there is a huge chance that it will not trigger an adverse effect on the body, and it may even prove to be a lasting solution to the problem.

Treatments include:

Restore the acidic balance – The vaginal area has natural acidic properties brought about by the interaction of different naturally-occurring bacteria. disrupting this process can and often does lead to bacterial vaginosis. This can be resolved by restoring the acidic balance using lactobacillusacidphilus and L. bifidus, which are both found in yoghurt. natural yogurt can be used in two ways it can of course be eaten to get the benifit of the live cultures in to your system the other way is to dip a vaginal insert of tampon into the yogurt and insert it directly into the vagina to help restore the bacteria balance.

Preventing unwanted bacteria from multiplying – This particular treatment is done as an alternative to acidifying the vaginal pH. a boric acid douche with neutralise some bacteria within the vagina and balance PH levels. a more natural treatment is a vinegar douche made up of a tablespoon of vinegar mixed with water very good for people who are allergic to other forms of treatment.

To help treat bacterial vaginosis are many natural supplements and tropical applications also vitamins and antioxidents. A, B, C d, E and B complex vitimins are all included. To help relieve the itching, a topical cream made from vitamin is quite effective.

Soothe the irritated genital tissues – A warm bath or even a shallow sitzs bath has been known to soothe the irritated tissues around the vagina, although it is generally advised that soap should not be directly used to clean the genital area, as it can destroy the skin’s natural lipid shields that help keep out bacteria.

These are just some of the natural and household remedies that have been known to help in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. Although i do recommend you find a good home remedy for bacterial vaginosis I would also state that if in any dout about the infection or if you are worried in any way then you should always consulte a doctor.
Beginning with the instant we are first conceived through to our last breath, how well we nourish our body plays an important role in determining our health, vitality and well-being. In the short term, a healthy and balanced diet can help us look good, feel good and stay in shape. It will build our immune system to help fight off colds, viruses and diseases, increase our energy levels and increase our strength and stamina.

The longer term benefits include increasing our resistance to illness and disease, like heart problems, most cancers, type II diabetes, cataracts, and osteoporosis. If you’re starting to experience symptoms of menopause, now is a crucial time to be following a healthy menopause diet and including certain foods, such as soybean based products, is crucial. The right nutrition can help reduce or even eliminate symptoms of menopause and help ensure you don’t gain weight during this period.

The public interest in health, nutrition and well being just gets bigger and bigger every day. Doctors, friends and family all believe they are experts about what to eat and not to eat to look after our health. With this amount of information overload, it can be hard to know who to trust or what to eat. Not only that, but a lot of the time it appears as though all the health gurus are always changing their direction and coming up with something new.

In actual fact the classic advice on what constitutes a healthy diet has not altered in several decades.

How To Create Your Healthy Nutritious Diet

A nutritious diet consists of several important elements or ingredients but one of the most important is balance. There are 5 main groups that the foods we eat can be divided into. To guarantee your body gets all the vital nutrients for your wellness, you have to make sure you eat some food from all of the 5 groups each day.

If you’re going through the menopause, making sure you get this balance right will depict how much you suffer with menopause symptoms.

No 2 women experience the exact same symptoms of menopause. On the whole, the symptoms of menopause for most women are relatively mild. For others, even though in the minority, the symptoms will be quite strong and could be quite a rough journey. If this happens to be you, don’t let it get you down, because there are a lot of acclaimed menopause treatment options particularly natural herbs for menopause supplements that make a big difference in easing your symptoms pretty much altogether.

There are loads of folks who endure yeast infections and almost all women are going to have one at some time in their life that will need to be taken care of. There are times, however, whenever yeast infections begin to recur regularly and they may even get to the point where they can be considered as a chronic yeast infection. What exactly makes a yeast infection get to this stage and what is there that we can do about it? After all, many of us with chronic candida have simply given up on ever doing anything about them at all.

In order to understand why we can get chronic yeast infections, you need to first understand why you get a yeast infection in the first place. Yeast is present all around us at all times and it is also in our body many times.Ususally, a healthful body is able to ward off the yeast by using some of the good bacteria that is present in it. It is only whenever this bacteria begins to disappear from our body that the yeast is able to get a foothold. This commonly happens if we experience extended periods of poor health or perhaps when we are taking antibiotics for some a different infection.

What is the number one thing that most folks do when they get a candida problem? They rush to the pharmacy and get cream that promises to be able cure the problem within just a few days.Although it’s great to help us feel better, it’s not getting to the root cause of the problem. What it is doing is reducing the amount of yeast in our body but it is leaving the stronger yeast behind. If it grows again, and it’s likely that it will, it becomes a stronger infection that is much more tough to treat. For each consecutive yeast infection, it will get stronger still, until it becomes a super infection.

If your yeast infection has become chronic, it’s best to start by treating it naturally. The simplest way is to apply 100% natural yogurt to the area and to eat yogurt on a daily basis. You can also try drinking some apple cider vinegar and eating a clove of garlic daily. These natural foods can help assist in bringing your body back into balance so that it can naturally fight the infection instead of you treating it at the drugstore.

Do you have bacterial vaginosis. The most common type of vaginal infection is bacterial vaginosis. Women are more likely to suffer from this disorder, although men have been known to get it. It is good news to hear that there are many treatments available to cure BV. Bacterial vaginosis is something you do not want to leave untreated as it can increase risks of other dieseases and health hazards. If you think you may have bacterial vaginosis then the best thing to do is get in touch with your doctor as soon as possible.

No one knows the exact cause of Bacterial Vaginosis. But the symptoms include vaginal discharge, unpleasant fishy odor, poor health, and bad hygiene etc. With bacterial vaginosis the symptoms can vary quite a bit from one women to the next. Some women who have bacterial vaginosis will actually not display any symptoms at all. So, it is quite difficult to diagnose and treat the disease. Bacterial vaginosis is not dangerous, but should be treated quickly for healthy lifestyle. If youo have a strange smell or unusual discharge then youo really should visit your doctor.

There are many effective treatments to use as a bacterial vaginosis cure. Usually the treatment is simple and reliable once proper diagnosis is made. Femanol is a natural dietary supplement popular among women. Because, they believe that it has the ability to reduce BV’s unpleasant odor and also provide other health benefits. But this kind of treatment can help for some individuals but it is reported that some women experience serious side effects and are left in a state of helplessness.

Doctors will prescribe oral antibiotics for your bacterial vaginosis. Vaginal antibiotic treatments include using a gel or cream. Metronidazole is a poplar antibiotic pill while others include Clindamycin, Ampicillin, Ceftriaxone, and Tertracycline. A very common and usually very good treatment is metronidazole gel. Even though this treatment causes some minor side effects, it is still believed to be the most effective treatment.

Today Tinidazole is also effective in treating bacterial vaginosis. But some experience serious side effects with this treatment. OK one thing not too do is fall into the trap of thinking your bacterial vaginosis is a yeast infection, with a yeast infection the discharge will be thicker and white as apposed to BV with a grayish thin watery discharge.

Natural treatments for BV are also growing more popular among many women. The natural remedies can include tea tree oil, goldenseal and olive leaf extract, yogurt, and garlic.

Finding an effective Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment is a very real problem with as many as 1 in 3 women suffering from the infection at some point in their lives. Commonly prescribed by the doctor for bacterial vaginosis are antibiotics in the form of tablets creams or gels. Bacteria found in the vagina is quite normal and the trouble with antibiotics is they kill all that bacteria including the good bacteria which is needed to keep a healthy balance within the vagina. There are now many natural remedies available to treat bacterial vaginosis effectively.

Candida is extremely common and there are many yeast infection causes. In fact the majority of females, around three thirds of them, will suffer from a yeast infection at least once in their life. Also a percentage of these women will undergo the suffering of recurring yeast infections. To help prevent and cure this though, the first thing that should be known is, what is the cause of yeast infection?

Well, to begin with it should be stated that when it comes to causes of yeast infection, there are many and they run the gamut from simple stress in life to hormonal changes to transference through sexual intercourse.

And since there is no actual one cause of yeast infection that can be pinpointed and isolated to avoid getting a yeast infection, it’s best if you can be aware of most of them. In the long run this can help you to avoid getting a yeast infection.

One of cause of yeast infection is if you take antibiotics. Also included is overdoing it with antibiotics, as well as there normal use. In brief, antibiotics are taken to kill off any bad bacteria in your body.

Sometimes though it can also kill off some of the good bacteria thus causing an imbalance in your body and promoting the growth of yeast producing bacteria.

Another cause of yeast infection occurs due to stress. A stressful lifestyle can and will change your hormones around and this can sometimes result in a yeast infection.

This same hormonal change is a prime factor in the cause of yeast infection of pregnant or lactating women, and women who are menopausal. This also applies to menstruation – both before and after cycles as this creates a lot of hormonal upheaval.

For men, the most common cause of yeast infection is through sexual intercourse with a woman affected with a yeast infection. This includes both oral sex and vaginal sex.

Other factors that can be a major cause of yeast infection in women include the use of douches, scented feminine hygiene products, feminine sprays, and the regular use of spermicides.

The use of any or all of these will imbalance the delicate balance of the vagina and can bring about an onset of yeast infection.

Another cause of yeast infection that is largely overlooked is clothing. This will include use of such iclothing as pantyhose, tight jeans and synthetic fiber underwear. Tight fitting clothes such as jeans won’t allow the vagina to breathe, and articles of clothing made from man made fibers will also do the same thing.

chiropractic and pregnancy

Are chiropractic adjustments safe during pregnancy Firstly, yes it is a excellent idea to get your spine checked while you are pregnant. As is clear to anyone with a set of eyes, your body is going through many changes, and these adjustments will continue as the pregnancy progresses. A subtle change is your body’s increased production of the hormone elastin. This hormone is designed to relax the tendons in the pelvis. this easing gives the pelvis more flexibility during the birthing process to make delivering the baby easier.

This process, despite the fact that its function is to assist the mother during labor, can create a lot of back pain in the months leading up to the birth. The elastin is being released in larger amounts as the months go on, which allows the pelvis to become increasingly more unstable. In combination with the increased size of the baby and uterus, and you have the ingredients for severe low back pain. As an Oxnard Chiropractor, I currently have several pregnant patients coming into my office for symptoms associated with their pregnancy, but as a rule it is for their low back pain.

One side benefit of having your spine and pelvis checked by a chiropractor regularly during your pregnancy is that it has been shown to actually decrease labor time. Why do chiropractic adjustments help? Simply put, if the pelvis is where it needs to be, the muscles contracting during the labor process are more efficient and won’t have to strain against misaligned joints.

To answer the second question from the introductory paragraph, yes chiropractic care during your pregnancy is safe. Chiropractic is not only safe and beneficial in relieving the low back pain associated with pregnancy, but other symptoms like heartburn, nausea, swelling, and so on. Certain trained chiropractors can also help mothers who have a breached baby. This is done by using the Webster Technique, a low force technique to manipulate the uterus and get the baby into the proper presentation for delivery. A simple Google search on the Webster Technique can give you much more information.

To summarize, chiropractic is both beneficial and safe in helping to relieve many of the discomforts of pregnancy. To any pregnant women out there reading this, please go to see your local chiropractor, or if you are close enough, look up your Oxnard Chiropractor. We can make you feel a lot more comfortable during your pregnancy, and we can even make the labor process easier.
