You are always hearing that you need to check with your doctor before you embark on any fitness regime. This is good advice and you should go for a complete check up and get your doctors take on what you are doing before you start your fitness program. According to a recent study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, supplementing with vitamin C over time reduces the likelihood of developing frequent common colds. This five-year study showed that supplementing with at least 500 milligrams of vitamin C each day reduced the frequency of catching colds, by as much as 70 percent. Other studies have shown that higher doses, such as1,500 milligrams per day or more (to bowel tolerance), are most effective at preventing colds. (more…)
