The Benefits of Proper Nutrition

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

In today’s fast paced society we often grab whatever is quick and easy for lunch or dinner as we rush to get onto the next “big” thing. Many of us simply do not stop and take the time to think about what we are putting into our bodies and the fact is that if you are not eating a nutritional diet, you may find yourself feeling ill or developing a serious medical condition.

Organic This … Organic That – What Exactly is

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

These days (every day) we hear so much about our food being grown and raised in modified ways. More and more of us are searching for labels to help us make more health-conscious choices. We find labels that say things like “free range”, “organically grown”, “antibiotic and hormone free”, or non-GMO”. These phrases were mostly unheard of 10 years ago. So, what do these terms have to do with “organic food”?

It must meet specific production standards which vary from what has become the normal process over the last thirty or so years. It’s not so much that the foods themselves are bad – it’s the modern technological preparation, processing and alteration that gets us into trouble. (more…)

What in The World is Acid and Alkaline Body Chemistry?

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Acidic and alkaline body chemistry refer to the pH, or potential hydrogen, balance within the body. If we have the optimal acid/alkaline balance, we have blood chemistry balance, or homeostasis.

A New Old Super Food?

The modern North American diet is one rich in saturated fats, deep fried foods, and high sugar drinks. Cola, alcohol, and fast food have all taken their toll on the overall health and fitness of the North American population, and now a full two thirds of the population is considered overweight or obese, with nearly ten percent of the population being morbidly obese.

The mere mention of a change in diet immediately instills fears of ultra-strict calorie pinching and meal planning, yet it does not have to be so. The right combination of foods, combined with moderate physical activity, is all that one needs to get back into shape and back on track with their health. (more…)
